ObscuraObscura is a gallery management system written in PHP and Perl. It's primary advantage is simplicity; at about 500 lines of code (Compare that to over 17,000 for the leading "Gallery" software), Obscura is lightweight and efficient. Obscura, however, is not for everyone. With no HTTP remote management features, users must be able to run the administration script via shell access or remote desktop. HTTP upload is not supported, so users will also have to already have a way to upload their images to their web server. With support for gallery directories, a special thumbnail gallery view that shows square portions of images, and an image viewer that allows people to see specific images, Obscura provides a complete way to share images with your visitors. Everything is presented in a minimal, elegant format that can make any picture look good. Obscura's look is driven through CSS, so changing colors and fonts is easy. You can also change the header and footer to tightly integrate Obscura with your existing website. |
